How to measure for Keen
Measure heel-to-toe standing, using the longer foot, with the socks you plan to hike in. Important: KEEN's own size chart shows two different centimetre columns -- a 'CM (JP)' column and a 'heel-to-toe' column -- and they differ by roughly a full centimetre (their men's US 9 is listed as 27cm in the JP column but 26cm heel-to-toe). The figures used here are the heel-to-toe foot-length values, which are the ones to compare your own measurement against.
Keen fit guidance
KEEN is known for a roomier fit than most outdoor brands, particularly through the toe box -- their standard widths are D for men's and B for women's, with wide options in some styles. If you have narrow feet you may find KEEN generous; if you have wide feet this is often a brand that works without needing a wide size. KEEN's children's chart repeats the two-column trap of their adult one: it publishes a 'CM (JP)' column and a 'heel-to-toe' column side by side, differing by around 0.4cm. The figures here are heel-to-toe, which is the child's measured foot length. KEEN sells children's footwear in three bands whose US numbers overlap — Toddler 4T-7T, Little Kid 8C-13C and Big Kid 1Y-7Y — so the band letter matters: a 4T and a 4Y are different shoes.
