ShoeSizeIt ("we," "us," "the site") provides a free shoe size calculator at shoesizeit.com. This policy explains what information the site collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than dense legal boilerplate.

1. Information stored in your browser

The calculator, your measurement history, saved profiles (e.g. names you give to track sizes for different family members), your rounding and unit preferences, and your light/dark theme choice are all stored using your browser's local storage, a standard web technology that keeps small pieces of data on your own device. This data:

  • Never leaves your device or gets sent to our servers. We don't operate a database of user measurements.
  • Is only accessible to this site, in this browser, on this device.
  • Can be cleared at any time using the "Clear" button in the history panel, or by clearing your browser's site data.
  • Is not a "cookie" in the traditional tracking sense, though it serves a related purpose (remembering your preferences between visits).

2. Information we do not collect

We do not require an account, do not ask for your name, email address, or any contact information to use the calculator, and do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Any "profile name" you enter to organize family members' sizes is stored only in your own browser's local storage as described above. It is never transmitted to us.

3. Third-party services

A few features on this site rely on third-party services that operate under their own privacy policies:

  • QR code generation. If you choose to generate a QR code for a shared result, the shareable link (which encodes your foot length, category, and selected brand, but not your name or any personal identifier) is sent to api.qrserver.com, a third-party QR code generation service, to render the image. This only happens if you actively choose the “Show QR code” action.
  • Visitor statistics. The site counts visits with Umami Cloud, a privacy-focused analytics service. Each page loads Umami's script from cloud.umami.is, which reports to gateway.umami.is the page's address and title, the page you came from, your browser, operating system, device type, language and screen size, and your country, which Umami works out from your IP address. It also reports how quickly each page loaded and responded to taps and clicks (standard page-speed timings), so slow pages can be found and fixed. The address is sent without its query string (the part after "?"), because that part of a result link holds your foot length. Umami uses no cookies and does not store information that identifies you personally. The site also counts a few actions: calculating a size (with the brand and category chosen), comparing all brands, using the brand converter, switching between cm, mm and inches, sharing a result, showing a QR code, printing, playing a video, and following a link to a brand's own size chart. These counts never include your foot length, your sizes or any profile name. If your browser or an extension blocks the script, the site works exactly the same.
  • Advertising. This site may display advertisements served by Google AdSense or similar ad networks. These networks may use cookies or similar technologies to measure advertising and, where permitted by their settings and applicable rules, serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are first asked, through Google's consent message, whether ads may use cookies and personal data; ads are shown either way, but only personalized with consent. The small local-storage notice shown by this site is a storage disclosure, not a consent request. You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page.

4. Cookies

This site itself does not set tracking cookies to identify you across visits, and its visitor statistics (Section 3) use none. If advertising is enabled, our ad partners may set their own cookies as described above. Where the law requires it (the EU and UK GDPR and ePrivacy rules, and Switzerland's data protection law), Google's consent message asks you before any non-essential advertising cookies are set.

5. Your choices

  • Clear your saved history and profiles at any time from the history panel or your browser settings.
  • Use your browser's private/incognito mode to use the calculator without saving anything locally.
  • Opt out of personalized advertising using the links in Section 3.
  • In the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, change or withdraw your ad consent at any time with the privacy and cookie settings link that Google's consent message leaves on the page.
  • Disable cookies entirely in your browser settings, understanding that some site features (like remembering your history) will then not work between visits.

6. Children's privacy

ShoeSizeIt is a general-audience reference tool, including a feature to help parents track children's shoe sizes over time. The site does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and any profile names used for tracking are stored only locally in the parent's or guardian's own browser.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the site's features change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
