Does ASICS run small?
No. By its own size chart, ASICS sizes in line with most brands in both men's and women's sizes. A 27 cm foot is a men's US 9 in ASICS and in 22 of 34 other brands' charts. Charts show how a brand means its sizes to fit, not how any one shoe feels, so read ASICS's own fit advice below as well.

ASICS width chart
ASICS publishes 4 men's and 4 women's width fittings. The standard fitting is D in men's and B in women's, so a D is the standard men's fitting but a wider women's one. Check which chart a letter belongs to before carrying it across.

How to measure for ASICS
ASICS recommends measuring foot length in centimeters and using the longer foot; letter widths (D/B standard, 2E/4E wide) are a separate fit dimension from length.
ASICS fit guidance
If your foot length falls between two ASICS sizes, most retailers recommend sizing up, especially for running models. Verified against two independent retailer transcriptions of ASICS's own size chart. ASICS children's sizes carry a K prefix up to K13, then restart at 1 for older kids. The prefix is what keeps a K4 distinct from a 4. ASICS also warns that the centimeter figure printed on a shoe box is not the same as a measured foot length, so match against your own measurement rather than a box marking. Children's width fittings use the same letters as the adult range: B narrow, D standard, 2E wide, 4E extra wide.
